TORTILLA is a band well-known for its achievements in blues music, and also one of the very few in Poland which may be deemed as representing genuine electric blues.

TORTILLA draws heavily on blues roots, although it flouts the convention of this genre for the sake of following its own, remarkable way. What results is a unique, distinguishable style characterized by the respect for the tradition of African-American musicians, rock`n`roll energy typical for white musicians and jazz vibration.

One of TORTILLA`s greatest assets are vivacious concerts, amazing contact with the audience and the extraordinary voice of band`s lead vocalist and the way she interprets the lyrics.

While working in the studio, TORILLA's musicians enrich their compositions in a creative way by using various instruments like: accordion, saxophones, string section, or Hammond and Farfisa organs.

What is characteristic for TORTILLA`s compositions are its song lyrics, written by a famous Polish poet and kept in an absurd yet lyrical tone.

The band has performed over a thousand concerts all around Poland, including gigs on the most important national blues festivals. The band also performs abroad frequently, for example in Holland, France, Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Ukraine, and Belarus.

TORTILLA is the winner of the Rawa Blues Festival, one of the biggest and most important blues festivals in Europe. The band feels comfortable both in small clubs and on big outdoor stages. They have performed not only for a crowd of many thousands, for example on the Woodstock Stop, but also in exclusive jazz clubs in Poland and Germany.

TORTILLA played with such remarkable blues stars as: Johnny Winter, Sugar Blue, Carey Bell, Big Joe Turner, Mick Taylor, Carlos Johnson, Charlie Musselwhite, Ten Years After and Stan Webb's Chicken Shack.

TORTILLA can be found among the best polish blues performers included on a CD added to the Encyclopedia "Blues in Poland" and also on a prestigious compilation "The Anthology of Polish Blues", published in 2008 and 2011 as a collection of 5 CDs.

The discography of TORTILLA consists of four albums: "Blues Band" released in 1993, "Full of Blues" in 1998, "Po polsku" in 2001, "Tortilla" in 2006 and many singles or compilations.
